Leeches

Phylum Platyhelminthes

The pork tapeworm - Taenia solium

-They infect pigs and humans
-Highly adapted to constant internal environment
-lacks sensory organs
-have a modified epidermis which is protected against digestive enzymes
-Are flat and long


Phylum Nematoda

Ascaris lumbricoides

-Invade human intestine and are responsible for Ascariasis
-reach length of up to 35 cm
-2-6 mm wide

Leeches-Hirudinea

-hermaphrodites
- Two suckers.  One at anus and the other on mouth
-half an inch to 10 inches long
-brown or black in color
-blood is main source of food
